It’s full blown xmas party season now and most of them are on a week day, not ideal when you’ve been at work all day and have to go out straight after. But, with a little bit of prep work on the morning of, you can still look and feel glam even after being stuck in the office all day.

If you normally wear minimal makeup to work then you could do this part after work, otherwise do this in the morning so you are already half way to being ready!

1. Prep your skin with a hydrating moisturiser, try Keihls Ultra Facial Lotion. Then apply a primer if you use one, all over your face using your fingers. I use Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer because it is super long lasting.
2. Apply a sheer layer of foundation with your foundation brush, just enough to even out the skin tone. I recommend the Sigma Flat F80 Flat Kabuki Brush or XO Beauty Flat Top Face Brush
3. Correct/ conceal the inner corner of the eye, if your unsure how to do this read my previous blog post here. Then carry your concealer over the eyelid and to even out the colour of your eyelids .
4. Powder every thing with a sheer powder. I use Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation in G30 for a long wear finish.
5. Add a pop of colour to the apples of your cheeks. I have used Bobbi Brown Apricot Blush for a fresh, bright cheek.
6. Groom those brows! Brush them with a clean mascara brush and then fill them in if needed. Groomed brows make a world of difference and are often forgotten about.
7. Draw a thin or thick line along your top eyelashes using a long lasting eyeliner, I would always use a gel because it won’t budge during the day. My preferred brand is Bobbi Brown gel liner. Make sure you line from inner lash to outer lash and get right in amongst the lashes so there is no gap.
8. Mascara your top and bottom lashes. The mascara I used was Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara, it has the blackest pigment.
9. Finish with a gloss.

After Work
So the products I recommend you take to work with you are; foundation, concealer, powder, blush, eyeliner, dark eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick
Brushes needed are; foundation brush, powder brush, eyeliner brush, blush brush, eyeshadow brush

1. Start with your eyes in case you get eye shadow drop under your eyes, this way you can clean it up easily and not ruin your foundation. Using the top edge of your eyeshadow brush, press your eyeshadow over top of your eyeliner all the way along your lash line, try and go thicker than the eyeliner, giving you a soft smokey look. The eyeshadow I used was Bobbi Brown Cavier, this eyeshadow is specifically created for using as an eyeliner so it sticks really well. Cavier is really dark, you could opt for a more browny colour so you get a softer finish.
2. Line your water line on top of the bottom lashes then push the same eyeshadow used on the top lash line into the bottom lash line, this balances out the top lid and gives an even smokier look.
3. Mascara top and bottom lashes again.
4. If you got a whole heap of eyeshadow drop down under the eye then a wee trick is to dap some foundation over it then wipe it off with a tissue while its still wet.
5. Next touch up your foundation using your foundation brush. If you use a flat top foundation brush like the ones I suggested earlier in this post then it will make your life much easier when you get to this step!
6. Conceal under your eyes again.
7. Powder everything
8. Add a touch more blush and a lipstick of your choice.

One more tip is to book a lunchtime appointment to get your hair curled or straightened, it doesn't take long or cost much but it can make a real difference to the final look.
I hope this was helpful and comes in handy for your next work function.
